Your building project could be one of the biggest investments you’ll ever make, isn’t it worth getting it right from the start? Hiring an architect helps you turn your ideas into a well-planned, buildable design.
Architects help you avoid costly mistakes. Architects think ahead, solve problems early, and design smartly within your budget saving you time and money down the road. Architects train hard and know their business. As a profession, we’re as creative as we are technically minded, and we’re as invested in the process as in the outcome. We see ourselves as problem-solvers, and we’re experts at transforming ideas into tangible buildings.
We also understand local rules and regulations. Every area has its own planning laws, permits, and restrictions. An architect can guide you through these, making the approval process smoother and less stressful.
Most importantly, you get a home that’s unique to you, instead of a cookie-cutter plan from the internet, but a space tailored to your lifestyle, needs, and future.
When you hire an architect, you know where you stand, because all architects in SA must be registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).

It’s not just about finding someone who has a good track record on similar projects, but of course it’s always useful to see what they’ve done. Our past projects are here.
It’s more about finding someone who shares your aspirations, vision and your values.
Once you’re confident that your architect is a good fit on paper, it’s time to start a conversation. Think about whether you want to work with them. Do they listen? Do they ask questions? Do they take your worries on board and give you the reassurance you’re looking for? Do they explain how they work without resorting to jargon or whitewashing the process?
You’ll be working closely with each other for a while, so you need to enjoy their company.

For us, just like for you, it’s mostly about being a good fit. If you care about good design and about how a building makes you feel, we’re likely to see eye to eye. And if you’re hoping for something out of the ordinary, that’s a great starting point too.
We specialize in residential and sustainable architecture, with a focus on creating spaces that are not only functional but deeply reflective of the people who use and live in them. Most of our work includes custom homes, transformative extensions, alterations and renovations, but we enjoy taking on diverse challenges. Every project starts with understanding the client’s needs, lifestyle, and goals, so we approach each one with a fresh perspective rather than a one-size-fits-all style.
-
Yes, you can take it one stage at a time.
Some of our clients choose the approach to take it one stage at a time, like a concept design or feasibility study before committing to the full scope.
We offer a phased approach that allows you to pause, reassess, and make decisions as the project evolves. Each phase builds on the last, so there’s a clear path forward, but you’re never locked in beyond what you’re ready for.
-
The truth is, we can’t give you an exact fee until we understand your project and your vision. Every project is different, and we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.
Our fees are tailored to the nature and complexity of each project. In many cases, fees are calculated as a percentage of the project value, however we understand that every client and project is different. Depending on what best suits your needs, we may also work on a fixed fee or a time-based structure.
What matters most to us is creating a process that feels transparent, fair, and comfortable from the outset. One thing we can say for sure, is that good design and thoughtful project management are some of the best investments you can make. We help you get things right before construction even begins, saving you time, money, and a whole lot of stress along the way. Less risk, fewer surprises, and a much smoother journey from concept to completion.
It is a lot easier and cheaper to delete a line on a screen compared to breaking down a wall and rebuilding it.

That’s an important question and one every homeowner should ask early on. The truth is, the total cost depends on a few key factors: the size of the project, the level of finish you’re after, the site conditions, and how complex the design is.
We will help you shape a clear and realistic budget from the start, and work with you to make smart choices along the way. Whether it’s a new build, an extension, or a renovation, we’ll talk through what’s most important to you, so the design reflects your lifestyle and stays within your comfort zone financially. It helps us dream big with you while also keeping everything grounded and realistic from the start.
Our role isn’t just to design something beautiful, but also to help you avoid surprises down the road and to make the process more exciting. We can start with ballpark figures based on similar projects and refine the numbers as we go step by step. This way, you stay in control of both the design and the costs. It’s a collaborative process.
Once we understand your goals, your wish list, and your budget, we’ll guide you through what’s required to bring it all to life. That includes not just design and construction costs, but also things like planning application fees, building control, structural engineering, and any specialists if needed.
-
Here’s another question which is almost impossible to answer. A small and relatively simple, but still beautiful extension might take 12 months from start to finish. A new-build house could take around two years. That said, we’ll always give you a clear picture of what to expect at each stage, from early design concepts to planning approvals and the build itself.
We don’t cut corners, so you’ll need to allow time for the project to run its right and proper course. Creating a bespoke building that fits you like a beautiful, comfortable glove is a collaborative process, and we need you as much as you need us. We’ll be asking questions, running things by you, and coming to the right decisions together. We know that takes time, but we also know that it’s time worth spending.
Speed is important, but so is getting it right. Our goal is to help you reach the finish line as smoothly and swiftly as possible; while making sure the final result is something you’ll love for years to come.

All architects, architectural technologists, and draughtspersons in South Africa must be registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) in order to practice legally.
Before engaging anyone for architectural work, we strongly recommend verifying their registration status. You can easily do this by checking the official SACAP register here. It’s a quick step that can save you significant time, money, and stress. All you need is their name and surname or their registered professional practice number.
Why is this important?
If someone is not registered with SACAP, they are not legally allowed to submit building plans to any local authority in South Africa.Unfortunately, we’ve seen firsthand the consequences of homeowners being misled by individuals claiming to be qualified professionals. These situations often result in costly mistakes, delays, and, in some cases, starting from scratch.
Choosing a registered professional means, you’re protected by law, and that you’re working with someone who is held to strict ethical and professional standards. It’s worth doing right from the start.

Our fees are specifically tailored to the architectural design and delivery of your project, they do not include statutory fees or the services of other professionals who may be required along the way.
That said, you won’t be navigating the process alone. We work closely with a trusted network of professionals, including structural engineers, quantity surveyors, land surveyors, conveyancers, consulting ecologists, town planners, and builders. When their expertise are needed, we’ll obtain quotes for you and help you make informed decisions. You’re always free to choose who you’d like to work with, and their fees are paid directly to them.
In addition, local authority fees, such as council submission and approval costs, are separate and paid directly by you to the relevant municipality. We prepare all relevant documentation required for submission and help ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible.
Our role is to support you throughout the entire journey, connecting you with the right people, helping you plan with clarity, and keeping your project on track from start to finish.
